Wowzers! Look at this audio mixer that my (now) cousin in law was playing with at his wedding reception.
And heck, have a photo of some delightful flowers present at the ceremony.

I’ll Chairish it Always
Hey, it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted anything shot around good ol’ Victoria BC so here you go. This delightful chair was sitting out on the curb a few days after Halloween. Was it a Halloween costume? A tiny man’s favorite reading chair? Nobody knows.

Shoot From the Shoulder
This is my dad kayaking in the Amazon last September. I am very pleased with how this photo turned out as I wasn’t at all looking through the viewfinder. Instead, I turned around the camera and blindly took the photo over my shoulder. Note my raggedy shirt pictured in bottom left and in the top, the tip of my goofy hat.
I also like this photo because it shows how incredibly vibrant the Amazon is. I did not doctor this photograph whatsoever; no, the vegetation is actually that green. It is absolutely beautiful.
This is My Favorite Photo
This may be one of my favorite photos that I have ever taken. I like the angle it was taken from and very much enjoy how the post processing turned out. I shot this right in the middle of Prague and happened to get extremely lucky with the angle; managing to exclude the masses of people milling about. If you read Wanderlust while I was in the Czech Republic you may recall my trip to Prague with a few Lithuanians. You can read more about this adventure in Parts One, Two and Three.

Heavily Armed
Over the years I’ve been to several countries where it’s a relatively common sight to see heavily armed individuals walking around. Peru was one of these places. Although this may have been during a festival, this fellow meant business. He actually was not the owner of the largest gun in attendance.
No, that dubious honor goes to these fellows. I couldn’t figure out whether these were some kind of combat shotgun, tear gas or grenade launchers. I suppose tear gas would be the most sensible, but the Peruvian army has never been known for being sensible.

Soviets Built This
Dilapidated buildings have always interested me. I always feel that they have so much history to offer, even if I will never learn it. The mystery is some of the fun.
I shot this particular derelict structure last year on a short trip to Sofia, Bulgaria. In order to avoid the excessive fees associated with taking a taxi from the airport , my posse decided to attempt to walk into the city despite it being 11 PM and several degrees below zero. The primary issue with this plan was we had no idea which direction to walk or how far we had to go. We were unable to find any English speaking locals and nobody in our small group was well versed in Bulgarian so we couldn’t ask anybody. We eventually just guessed and started walking. Cars often slowed and occasionally honked at us as we walked on the snowy curb. Eventually we broke down and grabbed a taxi but not until after walking by this old section of the airport a few kilometers away from the main terminal.

Simplicity
I have lately been finding it interesting to shoot simple patterns. I’m not entirely sure what it is; perhaps taking a complex situation and simplifying fulfills something within. Who knows. Anywho, here are two shots from my recent trip to Peru. The first is the underside of a gazebo-esque structure at the bottom of the Colca Canyon.
This other fella was taken in the midst of a fish market on the coast of the capital city of Lima. Behind this stack of colourful crates there were hundreds of small fishing boats, all of which looked like they were barely keeping afloat.

Memoirs of a Canine
I think big ‘ol dogs like this are pretty slick. This particular fellow was hanging out in Victoria’s Moss St. Market, which I would highly recommend you check out if you’ve never been.

Amazonians
Oh hello, I didn’t see you there. I was too busy looking at these swell photos from the AMAZON RAINFOREST. This first fella was taken on a beach where for whatever reason there were loads of flies, wasp like creatures, moths and butterflies hanging out. The yellow terror below was somewhere around the size of your palm. Things are bigger in the Amazon.
Much of our time in the Amazon was spent in a boat, looking for birds and other creatures. Into these boats were stuffed around eight people and no life jackets. Note that this particular lake contained electric eels, sting rays, piranhas and cayman. Of course, guides failed to mention this until after I had been swimming for a good half hour.
There were also bats hanging out on the side of a semi-submerged tree.
